Frigidaire Gallery GCRE306CAD True Convection Electric Air Fry Range Review
The Electric Choice
Frigidaire
When it comes to electric ranges, it doesn’t really get any better than this Frigidaire Gallery GCRE306CAD True Convection Electric Air Fry Range. It is powerful, versatile, pleasing to the eye, and has every feature you could possibly ask for in an electric range. Don’t you think it belongs in your kitchen? We do.
Frigidaire Gallery GCRE306CAD True Convection Electric Air Fry Range Video Review
What We Think of The Frigidaire Gallery GCRE306CAD True Convection Electric Air Fry Range
This Frigidaire range is one of the best electric models on the market today. It weighs 190 lbs and is 30” across, making it the perfect size for any kitchen. The 5.7 cubic foot oven is large enough to accommodate any meal, and the three racks have seven different placement options to ensure each food can cook in its ideal location. There are 4 standard elements ranging in size from 6” to 12”, and there is even an extra element that acts as a warming zone.
One of the elements can accommodate two different sizes and another element can accommodate three, so whatever your cooking needs are, there is an arrangement that can suit it. The self clean feature is pretty impressive. You can use the 30 minute steam clean if you’re in a hurry, or you can use a standard self clean cycle that can last 2, 3, or 4 hours depending on the grime level in the oven.
This range is absolutely amazing. My new husband talked me into upgrading the one in our house since it was getting pretty unreliable, and we could not have made a better choice. This one has every size of burner I could possibly need, and the air fryer capability has removed one unneeded appliance from our cupboards. We don’t mind the sound of the fan, but it is noticeable. What a great buy!
chantel j.
One thing to note is that there is a fan that runs while the oven is on that is quite noticeable, so if you are looking for a silent choice, this isn’t the one. However, the air fry capabilities, oven light, and hot surface indicator are all features that redeem the overall value of this range. No matter what needs you have, this electric model can meet and exceed them in style.

Our Gas Pick for a Range
GE Single Oven Gas Range Review
The Gas Choice
GE
Every gas range will come with its own list of pros and cons, but this one is the best overall in that category. The GE Single Oven Gas Range is an appliance that takes gas ranges to another level. It has highly versatile burners to adapt to every cooking need and a high quality, durable construction to provide longevity.
What We Think of The GE Single Oven Gas Range
This GE gas range weighs 167 lbs and is one of the taller models with a height of over 46 inches. If you’re looking for a range to make a statement in your kitchen, this one certainly would accomplish that. It has 4 standard burners and one warming zone; the burners are incredibly versatile and adjustable, and you can be certain of a reliable heat output every time. Each burner is one size, but with gas output adjustments, you can perfectly heat large pans and small pots alike.
The oven size is on the smaller side at 5 cubic feet even, but this is still plenty of space for most people to cook their meals. If you are used to extra large ovens or even double ovens, the smaller capacity of this one will be a noticeable difference for you. The oven does have a light to allow you to check on the progress of your food without opening the oven door, so you’ll never have to disrupt the cooking environment until your food is ready to come out.
I am in love with my new gas range! The oven is a bit smaller than my last one but it is still large enough to fit all of the food I cook anyways. I have learned the exact right settings for the burners to cook my food to perfection, and it is really reliable. I can make water boil really quickly or just do a gentle simmer; no matter what I need from this range, it has performed flawlessly so far.
kelly l.
The oven also has two racks instead of three like some ovens offer, but two is perfectly adequate for cooking multiple things at once. There is also a self clean feature that uses 30 minutes of steam to loosen all of the caked on grime in the oven so all you have to do is wipe it clean. The best part about this gas oven is that it is quite affordable for all, and it even comes with a one-year warranty to protect your investment.

This convection/induction range is one of the most unique models we have ever encountered. All you need is a Wi-Fi connection and you can control this range from anywhere in the home. Have you ever heard anything more convenient?
The control panel on this range is one of our favorite features of any range, ever. It is completely digital, and when the oven is turned off, the panel automatically shuts down too to leave your kitchen with the most seamless look possible. It is incredibly pleasing to the eye overall and is 100% electric. This is a powerful range too, as its largest element (11”) can reach 3700W. There are also 6” and 8” elements, as well as a warming zone and a warming drawer.
Honestly, when my parents bought my wife and I this range as a wedding present, we were both convinced that we’d never make use of the voice or device control features, we thought it was all just a little extra. However, we are very impressed at the convenience this range offers us, and it is very safe. We have tried every feature so far and not a single one is useless.
eric j.
For safety purposes, there is a hot surface indicator that alerts you to elements that are hot enough to harm you. There is also an oven light that is useful for evaluating the progress of foods without disrupting the heat flow. The 5.7 cubic foot oven interior and 3 rack ensure you have the space to cook any meal you could want. A 1-year warranty ensures that you have coverage in case anything goes wrong.

Whatever needs you have for your kitchen, this 29.9” x 29” x 36.6” range can help you accomplish your goals. It is a very sturdy, durable 174 lbs, and its black and silver exterior make it a perfect fit for any décor. There are two things about this range that make it incredibly safe. First off, it is fully electric, so you won’t ever have the worry about gas leaks that come with gas ranges. Secondly, the element and oven controls are situated above the oven door instead of on a raised ledge above the elements. This prevents you from reaching over cooking food to make changes and potentially having oil splatter or boiling water cause you harm.
This range is awesome! The placement of the display and burner controls and all of that stuff is so much safer for everyone, we don’t need to reach over sizzling pans and boiling pots anymore to change things. I love how many options I have with the elements and the oven heats up really quickly, they weren’t joking about a quick preheat. Very happy with this purchase.

This Whirlpool model brings us some of the best eco friendly technology that can be combined in a single appliance. There is an energy saving mode that is equivalent to putting your computer to sleep, and this helps you save immensely on your energy usage. Plus, the stovetop is made of eco friendly materials to lower the overall carbon footprint of this range. Making use of the small top oven whenever you can means less power needed for preheating and cooking.
This 6.7 cubic foot double oven range has the largest capacity of any other model on the market, and that includes both single and double oven ranges. You can cook any meal at the same time since each oven can be set to its own temperature and timed individually. There are three oven racks (one in the upper oven and two in the lower), each with multiple location options to enable you to cook each item to perfection.
My only regret is that I didn’t buy an oven like this sooner. Having the small top oven as well as the large bottom oven has completely changed the way I cook. I absolutely love how eco friendly this model is with its material use and energy saving mode. It’s really easy to work even though the panel is a little bit intimidating at first. I recommend this to every single house, everywhere. It’s amazing.

It is efficient with time and resources since it should only take 30 minutes. 25 steam clean cycles are equivalent to one standard self clean cycle, so you can be sure you are getting the best in both performance and environmentally-conscious designs.

What We Think of the GE JCGSS66SELSS Self-Clean 5-Burner Slide-In Gas Range
This GE gas model is one that has something to offer every household it becomes a part of. Its 5.3 cubic foot oven is smaller than the average 5.7 cubic feet, but it is still large enough t cook multiple things at once with its two racks. They can be adjusted to six different positions within the oven, so you can be sure to achieve the perfect cook every time.
This model has 4 standard burners and one that is accompanied by a build in griddle. There are three different burner sizes so you can get the best results no matter what size of pan/pot you are using. This oven has a self clean feature, so you won’t have to put in too much manual effort to keep your oven looking clean and operating safely.
I am so happy I went with this flat gas model instead of one that has a really high back. I love the backsplash in my kitchen, and I didn’t want to cover it up. The design of this gas range keeps everything really visible, and so far it has been working really well. The oven is a bit smaller than my last one, but I honestly don’t even notice that much. Great range, overall!!!

The grates on the stovetop are continuous, so you simply have to slide your cookware across the surface to get it away from the heat instead of lifting them. There is also a delay cook timer, so you can rely on your oven to get your meal done on time, even if you aren’t able to get things going manually. Since this model is offered at a very fair price and it comes with a 1-year warranty, there is really nothing missing.

Frigidaire FFGF3054TS Freestanding Gas Range Review
The Convenience-Oriented Alternative
Frigidaire
If a standard range is just not user friendly enough, this Frigidaire FFGF3054TS Freestanding Gas Range is the model for you. With features that scream convenience and a performance rating on par with the rest of the competition, cooking will be a lot more enjoyable and a lot less work.
What We Think of The Frigidaire FFGF3054TS Freestanding Gas Range
This Frigidaire gas range is one that offers the best in convenience. First of all, the grates on the stovetop are continuous, meaning you don’t have to lift heavy pots and pans to get them off the heat. You can simply slide them to an unused burner. These grates are also dishwasher safe, so when you need to give them a thorough clean, you don’t need to put in the time and effort trying to accomplish this task in your kitchen sink.
The self clean feature also has a lot of convenience to offer. You can select a 2, 3, or 4 hour cycle, and it even has a delay clean option so you can set it to clean while you are away. Unfortunately, there isn’t a fast steam clean option, but any self clean at all is better than none, in our opinion. The final feature we would like to share with you is the auto shutoff. After 12 hours, the oven turns itself off in order to protect your home in case you have left it on by accident.
What an incredible gas range! The continuous grates make moving heavy pots and pans so much easier, I don’t have the best wrist strength in the world so I would often tip my cast iron pans slightly trying to move them off the heat. The grates are dishwasher safe too, which is just unheard of. This oven works really well and the burners are easy to control. Very impressed, overall.

The specs of this range are all ones that you should expect from a modern range. The oven is slightly smaller than average at 5 cubic feet, and it contains two movable racks to help you get the most out of it.

Things to Know Before Buying a Range
Benefits of Upgrading Your Range
There are countless benefits to upgrading your range. Since these appliances can easily last over a decade, it may have been a long time since you’ve replaced your model for something more modern. As a result, you likely aren’t even aware of what the possibilities are. Nearly all modern ranges have a warming zone near the middle/back of the stovetop. This allows you to keep finished dishes warm until the rest of the meal is ready or until the family is gathered to eat. Most electric ranges will have burners that can expand in size to accommodate larger pans/pots, but can also be used as small burners to conserve energy. Essentially every range will have a self clean feature, some have only the standard 2/3/4-hour cycles that use a lot of power, but many also incorporate a 30-minute steam clean to save on both time and energy use.
Upgrading your range will also reduce your energy bill, as many are equipped with energy saving modes, and just in general they run cleaner and are more efficient than old ranges. Upgrading your range will also improve safety features, as you can find models that have child locks, alternative control placements depending on your living situation, and auto shutoff. Lastly, upgrading your range will also upgrade the aesthetic of your kitchen. Modern appliances are very sleek and pleasing to the eye, and most models will fit seamlessly with any décor.
How to Properly Choose Your Range
- Price.
You can find gas ranges for under $1000, but most models and all electric ranges will likely be over that amount. We recommend looking for ranges between $1500 and $2000, as these will be high performance ranges with all the standard features you need, but won’t break the bank entirely. High tech ranges can run closer to $3000-$4000, but they will have extra features that make them pretty special and worth that kind of money (for the most part, at least).
- Size.
Most ranges will be quite similar in size, but there are some variations that will affect how easy they are to get into your home and whether they will fit in your layout or not. Different homes can be designed with different range depths and widths in mind, so it is best to make sure the dimensions of your new range are comparable to your existing one. Height is usually less of an issue, but it is something to consider as well.
- Range Type.
Deciding on gas vs electric for your range is one of the most important decisions you’ll have to make. There are pros and cons to both, and quite a large difference in price as well. First off, you’ll have to check whether or not your home has a gas hookup, because if it doesn’t, that makes the decision really easy. Electric ranges often have more features and are safer and easier to maintain, but they are also more expensive. Gas ranges are cheaper and comparable in size, but they likely won’t have as many features and there is more of a risk with that type.
- Self-Clean Function.
Nearly every modern range available for sale will have a self clean feature. Some only have a standard self clean that takes 2-4 hours, but other models will have a steam clean as an alternative or an addition to the standard self clean. The steam clean is much better because it is faster and much more energy efficient, so that may be a feature you want to put on your must-haves list.
- Element Sizes.
Different ranges will have different element sizes, and this will affect the size of pots and pans you can cook with. Gas ranges will usually have one or two sizes only, but there is more diversity in electric ranges. Most will have an element that can expand from 5 or 6 inches to 8 or 9 inches, and then another element that will be useable in those two sizes and will also expand to 11 or 12 inches. Diversity is key if you have many different sizes of pots and pans and like to use all of them.
- Oven Size (cubic feet).
The size of the oven in your range will affect how much you can cook at once, but also how much time it will take to preheat. Larger ovens will take longer but can cook more food at once, and double ovens will have the largest capacity. Smaller single ovens won’t be able to handle quite as much food at once, but they are faster to heat.
- Warranty.
Warranty coverage is always a good idea when it comes to appliances like these. They are a big investment and should last you many, many years. Most will come with a one-year coverage plan on parts and labor, so you should be protected if anything goes wrong in that time frame. Since this shouldn’t be too hard to find and it’s a big investment, we recommend not purchasing a product unless it does come with warranty protection.
We do our best to provide you with a comparative guide of ranges allowing you to choose the best product possible. If we are missing information or new models, do not hesitate to leave a comment below or to send us a message.
