Chilling Home Pregnancy Pillow Review
The Best Overall
Chilling
As you near the later half of your pregnancy, sleep becomes more challenging than ever before. If you need a comforting, supportive helper to fall asleep as your belly gets bigger, there is no better option than the Chilling Home pregnancy pillow.
What We Think of The Chilling Home Pregnancy Pillow
The Chilling Home pregnancy pillow is the classic U shape that provides full-body support to help you fall and stay asleep. The cover is a soft and comfortable velvet. It is removable with a convenient zipper for washing whenever needed. This 55” pillow is long enough for support down to the ankles, but the long arms are also very useful for wrapping around yourself when sitting for arm support when relaxing, eating, breastfeeding, and holding your baby while you memorize their adorable face.
This is seriously the comfiest pillow ever! It was attached to my hip wherever I went while I was pregnant: relaxing in bed, sitting on the couch, sleeping, you name it. It is really versatile and moved with me so I was always comfortable. I used it a dozen different ways even after my baby was born for extra support (the legs make great arm supports). It will take a few days to expand after being vacuum packed though.

The filling is a unique bionic polyethylene fill that contours to the body and provides firm support to help your alignment so there’s less strain on your body. It is fairly heavy at over 7 lbs, so you may struggle to bring it around the house with you if you’re carrying anything else at the same time; even if it takes a few trips, though, it’s worth it for the versatility in dozens of positions. The quality and durability are quite excellent, so you’ll get years of use past your pregnancy no problem.

BelliPod 2-in-1 Pregnancy Wedge and Body Pillow Review
The Travel Pick
BelliPod
Pregnancy pillows are often quite large, and this isn’t helpful if you have places to go and don’t want to leave your support behind. Since you won’t be getting much sleep after the baby is born, choose the BelliPod 2-in-1 pregnancy wedge and body pillow for a comfortable sleep anywhere you go.
What We Think of The BelliPod 2-in-1 Pregnancy Wedge and Body Pillow
When we think of wedge pillows, we typically envision a small wedge-shaped pillow that sits under the belly and maybe the back if you’re getting fancy. However, this BelliPod 2-in-1 pregnancy wedge and body pillow is a bit different since it is 47” long to support the entire lower body, rather than just providing a resting place for your baby bump. The pillow is ergonomically contoured to fit the natural curve of your belly, knees, and legs so that your alignment remains perfect throughout the night.
I am a side sleeper, and this pillow perfectly supports my huge belly while making my spine and hips relax so I can sleep soundly. It is contoured to fit the natural body when sleeping. The cover can be taken off and machine washed, which is extra handy now that I use it when breastfeeding. The wedge feels a little firm at first, but the support is so comfortable once you adjust to sleeping with it. I wouldn’t have slept at all without this in the later weeks of my pregnancy.

The inner filling is a supportive, cushy memory foam that adapts to your body’s shape as it changes throughout and after your pregnancy. It is great for travel since it is much smaller than the full-size pillows but still provides a great amount of support. One downside is that it doesn’t have neck/head support included, though your own pillow can replace the top of the C and U shaped pillows when using this wedge. This pillow is also a little less versatile since it can’t bend and flex for use when breastfeeding or other activities like reading or using a computer.

All things considered the Bellipod wedge pregnancy pillow is the best option for pregnant women who want a high-quality, fully supportive pregnancy pillow that isn’t a nightmare to transport. Though it doesn’t offer full-body support, you’ll be equally comfortable with this as you would with a full-size pillow.
Our Memory Foam Pick for a Pregnancy Pillow
Milliard U-Shaped Memory Foam Body Pillow Review
The Memory Foam Pick
Milliard
Memory foam is everywhere nowadays, and there’s good reason for it. If you want to take advantage of the supportive, relaxing benefits of memory foam in a pregnancy pillow, the Milliard U-shaped memory foam body pillow is an excellent choice.
What We Think of the Milliard U-Shaped Memory Foam Body Pillow
The Milliard u-shaped memory foam body pillow is one of the best memory foam options on the market with a reasonable price for the quality and durability you receive. The beauty of this memory foam pillow is that it provides support for every area of the body: legs, hips, belly, back, shoulders, neck, and head. Plus, if you’re picky about pillows and want to keep using your own, you can place the closed end at your feet for foot support while the open top leaves room for your own pillow.
I used to sleep with a pillow between my legs for some relief from hip and back pain, but my husband convinced me a pregnancy pillow was worth it as my belly started to get bigger. The thickness is just perfect and I have no more hip pain. It is super snuggly, feels really supportive, and is always fresh and cold which helps me sleep. I use it to watch tv, read in bed, work on my computer, and pretty much everything else.

The breathable cotton cover helps you stay cool while sleeping, and it is machine washable and dryable for convenience. Memory foam is one of the most supportive filling options for pregnancy pillows, so the slightly higher price is certainly worth it since the pillow will easily adapt to your body for precise comfort. The pillow is 54” long, which is about standard for U-shaped pregnancy pillows and will fit most body types comfortably. The only complaint you may have with this Milliard body pillow is that it takes up a ton of room in the bed and is hard to bring around with you for support in other areas of the home.

This is one of the best memory foam pregnancy pillows available in the U shape. Though it is a little pricier than some other filling options, and will take up significant space in the bed, users will be comfortable and fully supported all night long.

The Adjustable Pick
Pharmedoc
If you like the U-shaped pillows but don’t always want to lug the entire thing around the house, or want to be able to cuddle your partner in the middle of the night, you need this adjustable Pharmedoc U-shape pregnancy pillow.
Pharmedoc U-Shape Pregnancy Pillow Video Review
What We Think of the Pharmedoc U-Shape Pregnancy Pillow
This Pharmedoc pregnancy pillow is a bit atypical compared to most other U-shaped pregnancy pillows. This pillow is special because it actually detaches at the top side so you can take one side of the pillow off when required for cuddling or using one half in the bed and the other on the couch. Though this offers excellent adjustability of angles and size, it does mean that the detachable arm of the pillow is not stable overnight and won’t stay in position, which can get annoying.
This is a good pillow, but I was expecting better. It definitely needs more filling; it feels flat and not as supportive as it should be. Though the detachable part is useful sometimes, it also feels flimsy when it’s attached which makes it move around too much. I find it more useful on the couch than in the bed. The cloth piece between the detachable piece and rest of the pillow is useful for sliding an arm through without limiting circulation at least. Given the price, I expected more.

This pillow has a jersey cotton washable cover and a polyester fill that is soft and squishy for comfort and contouring to your body during and after pregnancy. Though large and bulky, travelling with this pillow is made a bit easier by the inclusion of a travel bag so you can keep your hands free for other important things. One flaw with this pregnancy pillow is that it isn’t stuffed quite as much as it should be, so you’ll have more give and less firm support. It is also a bit pricier compared to many other U-shaped pillows.

While the overall quality is good, this pillow isn’t as comfortable and supportive as it could be with just a little more filling for a firmer surface. That being said, it’s a great choice if you need a little more space in the bed or want a choice of how the pillow works with your body.
Pharmedoc C-Shape Pregnancy Pillow Review
The C-Shaped Pick
Pharmedoc
If you enjoy being spooned by your partner and want a pillow that can mimic that hugged feeling while providing all the support and cushioning you need, a C-shaped pillow is the right choice. If this sounds like what you need, choose the Pharmedoc C-shape pregnancy pillow.
Pharmedoc C-Shape Pregnancy Pillow Video Review
What We Think of The Pharmedoc C-Shape Pregnancy Pillow
This C-shaped pregnancy pillow by Pharmedoc is a large full-body pillow that tucks in around your body to provide support for the hips, belly, back, knees, shoulders, neck, and head. The C-shape is one of the longest at 57” long, so it is a good choice for taller women who struggle to find products compatible with their longer torsos. The only downside when stretched out further is that it doesn’t offer back and belly support, only one of them.
I loved how soft and fluffy this pregnancy pillow was! The extra support under my knees was the only way I slept comfortably, and it was so cozy being wrapped around by this pillow. It feels like being wrapped in a big comfy doughnut, and it is really comfy for sitting up with back and arm support when holding or nursing my baby. I wish I could’ve used my own pillow though since it’s too tall when on my back.

The pillow is a bit heavier at over 7 lbs, and its larger size makes it much less portable than wedge options. That being said, it is easy to customize for a wide variety of lying and sitting positions so you have support wherever you need it, no matter whether you’re breastfeeding, working at a computer, or sleeping. This pillow comes with a lifetime warranty guarantee, so it is also one of the most durable pillows on the market with double stitching for longevity.

Pharmedoc C-Shape Pregnancy Pillow Pros and Cons
Pros
Pros
- Lifetime warranty speaks to incredible durability
- Extra long – ideal for taller women
- Makes a great nursing pillow as well
- Supports the belly, hips, head, neck, shoulders, legs, and feet
Cons
- Not very portable
- No choice but to have the pillow between your legs

Overall, the Pharmedoc c-shape pillow is an excellent choice for side sleepers needing full-body wrap-around comfort and support to get to sleep with their pregnancy bellies. Though it does limit you more than a wedge or U-shaped pillow, it is one of the best in its class.
Hiccapop Pregnancy Pillow Wedge Review
The Compact Pick
Hiccapop
If you need a pregnancy pillow that is small enough to not kick your partner out of the bed, a wedge pillow is probably the best choice. For belly support without losing your partner at your back, choose the Hiccapop pregnancy pillow wedge.
Hiccapop Pregnancy Pillow Wedge Video Review
What We Think of the Hiccapop Pregnancy Pillow Wedge
The Hiccapop pregnancy pillow wedge is a very compact and portable pillow option that can be used under the belly, between the knees, and behind the back when sitting for support at key trouble areas. This pillow is a bit unique in that it has two different firmness options of foam on either side of the pillow so users can choose between softer and firmer memory foams depending on what is most comfortable for them.
This wedge is the perfect pillow for me. I like all the ways you can use it and appreciate the double-sided foam so I can choose between soft and firm foam for under my belly or behind my back on the couch. The fabric is really soft and the cover comes off and goes in the washing machine. I’m sleeping so much better and it has erased my back pain. Yay!

The soft plush Velboa cover is machine washable and feels great to the touch. This pillow is one of the best for portability since it weighs less than a single pound and will fit in a variety of bags so you can bring it with you anywhere for extra support when needed. This pillow does not offer much support for the rest of your body, but it will ease the strain on your back and hips as your belly gets bigger, which is where you’ll need it most anyways.

If you need a travel-buddy for the later pregnancy months, or have a smaller bed, this is an excellent choice since it is compact and lightweight. However, it doesn’t offer the level of full-body comfort and support that the large pregnancy pillows offer, so it won’t provide the same level of relief.
Boppy Bump and Back Pregnancy Support Pillow Review
The Convenient Pick
Boppy Bump
If you’re looking for a pregnancy pillow that is convenient to bring around the house with you for comfort and support wherever you are and whatever you’re doing, the Boppy Bump and Back pregnancy support pillow is an excellent choice.
Boppy Bump and Back Pregnancy Support Pillow Video Review
What We Think of The Boppy Bump and Back Pregnancy Support Pillow
The Boppy side sleeper bump and back pregnancy support pillow is a great pick since it will encourage you to stay on your side while sleeping, which is ideal for your circulation. The signature stretch panel between the two side cushions will stretch to fit snuggly around your body to keep your back and belly supported while on your side.
I tried a normal wedge before but I find this the best for tummy support. I didn’t enjoy the U-shape because I toss and turn so much and it was a pain to get it comfortable again. This pillow has been perfect since it is the same on both sides and there’s no lack of support no matter what side I’m on. It helps keep me on my side going into my third trimester, and its small enough that we don’t feel crowded in the bed.

With a polyester fill and jersey knit washable cover, expecting moms will be comfortably cushioned. This wedge pillow is incredibly portable with a very lightweight, compact design that can be packed easily. This pillow can be used in the car, on the couch, and in bed for support wherever and whenever you need it. Its design makes it less suitable for wider bodies, but it won’t limit your cuddle time with your spouse which is a big plus.

The Boppy Bump and Back wedge pregnancy pillow is a great choice if you’re space-conscious or want something that can be brought with you when you travel, but its overall support does not justify the extravagant price. With a unique wedge shape, it’s great for versatility when you’re struggling to find a comfy position.

Things to Know Before Buying a Pregnancy Pillow
Why Use a Pregnancy Pillow?
There are many reasons why most women choose to use a pregnancy pillow. The most obvious benefit is that you are supported during sleep, and many women find a pregnancy pillow is the only way they can sleep at night particularly during the third trimester.
A pregnancy pillow significantly eases body aches, pain, and strain on joints and muscles. Carrying your child out in front of your body is hard on your back, though most women experience full-body pain with pressure at the hips, legs, and back in particular. A pregnancy pillow will support these body areas so you can properly rest and relax in proper alignment.
A pregnancy pillow also helps you sleep on your side which promotes good blood circulation. Even if you’re a natural side sleeper, a pregnancy pillow will provide the support and cushioning you need with custom contouring to your changing body.
Of course, the top benefit of using a pregnancy pillow is that you’ll more easily get the amount of sleep your body needs so that you stay healthy, in high spirits, and emotionally stable during your pregnancy – and after!
What Are the Different Pregnancy Pillow Shapes?
There are more pregnancy pillow shapes than you might expect, and each one has its pros and cons that make it right or wrong for you.
The most common pillow shapes are the U, C, J, I, and wedge. The U-shaped pillow is the most popular since it provides front and back support, though it and the C shape are rather large and take up most of your bed space. The I shape is a long straight pillow while the J is straight with a curve off one end. These are more portable but don’t offer back support if you sleep hugging them.
The wedge pillows are available in a few different styles: some have a back support as well, some fit only under the belly, and some are long for lower-body support. These are the ideal choice for travel, use in the car, and for cuddling with your partner at night since there is no divider between you. They are commonly used to either support the belly for spinal alignment and relief or to wedge in your back to prevent you from rolling over and compromising your circulation.
If you are a strict stomach sleeper and none of these pillow shapes will work, there is another option. An inflatable pregnancy pillow is a much less convenient option since it is so large, but it has a whole in the middle that you can rest your belly bump in while the perimeter supports the rest of you.
When Should I Start Using a Pregnancy Pillow?
Most women start noticing a need for a pregnancy pillow around the 20-week mark. At 20 weeks, your belly starts to expand, and this can cause pain in your ligaments as things stretch out and grow. There is no set time to start using a pregnancy pillow, and you don’t have to use one if you find sleeping comfortably to be relatively simple. Of course, some women will have more difficulty than others changing positions at night or staying comfortable, so a pregnancy pillow can help.
Many non-pregnant people also enjoy pregnancy pillows for their support and alignment, so you don’t even necessarily have to be pregnant to start using a pregnancy pillow. However, it is recommended by chiropractors to use some sort of support for your body and belly during your third trimester to help keep you on your side, the optimal sleeping position in your late pregnancy.
How to Properly Choose Your Pregnancy Pillow
- Price.
Pregnancy pillows aren’t too expensive no matter which type or brand you choose, but there is still a gap in price and quality from the lowest-end to the highest-end options. For this reason, setting a budget is still important since the prices can vary depending on what you’re looking for.
- Size.
Pregnancy pillows are available in a variety of sizes from those that take up most of the bed to those that can fit into a travel bag. There is no “right” size, so it really depends on your situation. To help you decide which size is right for you, ask yourself where you’ll be sleeping, and who with, as well as where else you’ll want some extra support, like on the couch, in the car, or if you’ll be travelling.
- Fill Type.
Pregnancy pillows are available with a few different filling options. There’s wool, air, polyester, micro-beads, and memory foam. Each fill type will feel different, and not every fill will feel comfortable for everyone. If you know the type of fill you enjoy in your regular pillow, choose a pregnancy pillow with a similar texture so you won’t be uncomfortable. Memory foam and polyester are the most popular, but the choice is ultimately up to you.
- Washable Cover.
Most pregnancy pillows are covered twice, with an inner and an outer zippered cover that can be machine washed and dried to keep things clean and smelling fresh. Since you’ll be using the pillow daily, and possibly all day, washing regularly is super important for preventing stale odours. Since you’ll mot likely also be using the pillow when breastfeeding, eating, and other activities, a washable cover can save your pillow from spills and stains.
- Cover Material.
The material of the cover changes with each pillow, and some are warmer, cooler, or more comfortable than others. There are many options to choose from, including jersey knit, cotton, organic cotton, velour, Velboa, faux furs, polyester, velvet, and more. Some pregnancy pillows are even designed with cooling covers that help hot sleepers stay comfortable.
- Shape.
There are numerous pregnancy pillow shapes, including the U, C, H, J, and wedges of different sizes. All pregnancy pillows will provide support, but some offer full-body support while others target specific areas. The shape you choose also determines just how portable the pillow it is, so the amount of travel you’ll be doing, even just between rooms in your home, should be a consideration when choosing a pillow shape.
- Supported Areas.
Not every pregnancy pillow supports your entire body. Some do if they’re long enough to stretch from your head and shoulders to between your legs or feet, but there are many that target the baby bump, belly and back, or the lower body only. Depending on the level of pain and strain you’re experiencing, you’ll choose a different type of pillow that either targets a common problem area or supports you from head to foot.
We do our best to provide you with a comparative guide of pregnancy pillows allowing you to choose the best product possible. If we are missing information or new models, do not hesitate to leave a comment below or to send us a message.
