To say sleep is important is the understatement of the decade.
We all have a special relationship with our mattresses, but if you’re left feeling unrested after a full night’s sleep, or worse, sore and achy, it’s probably time for a breakup.
A good mattress will feel comfortable and supportive, and the right mattress will give you better sleeps than you’ve had in years.
Choosing the right mattress is difficult, though, considering there are so many different types to choose from, firmness options to consider, and some pretty revolutionary technology at work.

We dedicated 68 hours to researching and analyzing 54 mattresses and 1265 consumer reviews to curate a list of some of the best mattresses in Canada.
We developed this list by considering the most important factors and features of modern mattresses: price, cooling technology, pressure relief, edge support, lumbar alignment, warranty, sleep trial period, type, value, and overall quality.

Silk & Snow The S&S Hybrid Review
The Best Overall
Silk & Snow
The Silk & Snow The S&S Hybrid is the best overall mattress because it combines pressure relieving power of memory foam with supportive pocketed coils that are made from Canadian steel. Even though this mattress is a bit expensive, it provides a luxurious sleeping experience that many sleepers will love.
Silk & Snow The S&S Hybrid Video Review
What We Think of the Silk & Snow The S&S Hybrid
One problem many people face when mattress shopping is choosing between a memory foam and standard coil mattress. Both mattress types come with their own advantages and disadvantages. In the Silk & Snow The S&S Hybrid, however, it combines the benefits of both without the negatives of either.
For starters, the Silk & Snow The S&S Hybrid has an innovative design that includes six layers of comfort. There is an antimicrobial cover, cold sleep surface, pressure relieving 2 inch memory foam layer, zoned lumbar support, pocket coil base, and firm edge support.
Together, all of these layers create a comfortable and long lasting experience. On the one hand, the two inch memory foam curves perfectly to your body. On the other hand, the coil provide supported comfort for all body types and sleepers.
Another reason we have named this our best overall pick is that it is specifically designed for the body. For example, it includes motion transfer absorption. Multiple customers noted that this feature is super nice because it doesn’t result in any sounds or sleep interruptions.
The mattress also comes with zoned support. This means that there is extra support underneath the hips, whereas the shoulders have softer coils. This allows the mattress to perfectly form to your body for just the right amount of comfort. Multiple customers noted that this feature stands out for creating a comfortable night’s sleep.
It’s the best bed I have ever owned, by far. I treated myself to the full package: mattress, bed frame, sheets, and got the pillows too. I sleep better than a princess!
daniel g.
The last thing we truly love about this mattress is the high quality construction. All Silk & Snow products are crafted in Canada. Plus, all of the materials are locally sourced. This fact allows the mattress to go the extra mile for being a high quality and ethical purchase.
The only potential downside about the Silk & Snow The S&S Hybrid is its price. Even though it is not outrageously expensive, it will still be outside of most people’s price range. Additionally, a few customers noted that it doesn’t stay as cool as they would like, but they still said that the positives greatly outshone this one minor negative.
Hence, the Silk & Snow The S&S Hybrid is an all around great mattress for all sleepers. Because of its hybrid design, it fits all body types. Unfortunately, it runs a bit hot and doesn’t quite fit everyone’s budget.

The S&S Organic Mattress Review
The Eco-Friendly Choice
S&S
Mattresses are often made with chemicals and are far from being considered green products. If you’re an eco-activist or simply want an all-natural bed for health reasons, the Silk & Snow organic mattress is a top pick since it’s certified organic from top to bottom.
What We Think of The S&S Organic Mattress
The Silk & Snow organic mattress is an entirely green mattress from cover to base. This mattress is in compliance with all organic standards and holds several certifications including GOTS and GOLS. The first thing you feel when touching this mattress is the 100% organic cotton cover. This protective barrier is incredibly soft and is highly breathable to resist odours and heat. The first layer of comfort in the mattress is a 100% natural wool quilt layer that replaces the chemical flame retardants in standard mattresses.
A 2.5” layer of organic latex provides a boost of pressure relief and contouring to hug your body gently. Latex is a naturally cool substance and assists with temperature regulation for your 8 hours of sleep. The third layer of the mattress is a zoned support comprised of soft and firm coils for support in all the right places. At the top and bottom thirds of the bed, the coils are a bit softer. The coils in the middle are firmer to better support the lower back and hip region for an aligned spine in any sleep position. The final layer is a pocket coil base that helps limit motion transfer between sleeping partners and offers unparalleled support.
I have sensitivities to normal mattresses and needed a natural alternative, so I chose the Silk and Snow organic mattress. It is a bit pricier than I’d intended but oh boy was it worth it. I feel fully supported and very comfortable in this bed, enough that getting up in the morning is twice as hard as it used to be. I’m very impressed with this bed and recommend it to anyone with allergies like me.
Megan Y.
The S&S mattress is one of the best organic mattresses for edge support as well since it has an extra firm perimeter reinforcement system to prevent destabilizing sagging and sinking when weight is targeted at the edges of the bed. This edge support not only makes it easier to put your socks on in the morning but helps extend the life of the mattress by limiting movement of the mattress structure. Overall, this hybrid organic mattress is a top performer in all the essential areas and is a great pick for health- or eco-conscious people.

Our Upgrade Pick for The Best Mattress
Casper Wave Hybrid Mattress Review
The High Performance Pick
Casper
The Casper Wave Hybrid Mattress is our upgrade mattress because it comes with an intuitive design specific for back pain and troubled sleepers. Although the price may be worth it for some people, its price makes it expensive and not worth it to most sleepers.
Casper Wave Hybrid Mattress Video Review
What We Think of the Casper Wave Hybrid Mattress
Do you have trouble sleeping because of back pain or other sleep interruptions? If so, you probably are willing to spend quite a bit on a mattress, as long as it creates a restful and ideal night sleep. If that sounds like you, we recommend the Casper Wave Hybrid Mattress.
The Casper Wave Hybrid Mattress is specifically designed for back pain sufferers who either have trouble sleeping because of pain or wake up in pain. It is able to target back pain because it offers optimal support with zone support gel pods. These pods align your spine and supports the hips, resulting in less pain.
Although sleeping on gel pods may not sound very comfortable, they actually allow much more support and comfort than traditional memory foam. In other words, this material is the upgraded memory foam material of the future.
At the same time, this mattress does not sleep hot either. It comes with AirScape 3 technology and cooling gel that allows the mattress to circulate air away from your body. Multiple customers noted that this is one of the few beds that actually stays cool.
In terms of quality, the Casper is nearly impossible to beat. It comes with a 100 nights free trial and a 10 year limited warranty. These two factors ensure that you get the mattress you have been dreaming of – pun intended.
We delayed upgrading our 10 year old memory foam mattress thinking the old mattress was fine, just maybe a bit old, and mattresses are expensive! We took the plunge and bought the Wave Hybrid. The first time laying down on the Casper, we realized the mistake we made of waiting so long! My husband has a terrible back and was having sleep issues which have now vanished.
olivia
That being said, one thing you probably did not dream about was its price. The Casper Wave Hybrid Mattress is highly expensive and nearly three times the cost of our best overall mattress. The only people who should be willing to pay this price are those who suffer from severe back pain.
Aside from the outrageously expensive price, we don’t have any complaints about the Casper Wave Hybrid Mattress. It seriously provides ultimate comfort for back pain sufferers in a way that no other mattress can.

Zinus Memory Foam Green Tea Mattress Review
The Affordable Choice
Zinus
If you are in the market for a mattress that is high quality but won’t also cost you an arm and a leg, the Zinus memory foam green tea mattress is the ideal option for you. Infused with green tea, this foam mattress ensures a great sleep without emptying your wallet.
Zinus Memory Foam Green Tea Mattress Video Review
What We Think of the Zinus Memory Foam Green Tea Mattress
The Zinus mattress is one of the most affordable memory foam options, but offers surprising quality for the price. The most notable feature of the Zinus bed is the infusion of green tea in the top layer of memory foam. Green tea is a natural anti-oxidant and is also used to achieve a lasting freshness in the mattress. This 3” top memory foam is responsible for a large portion of pressure relief on your joints since it contours to all your curves and provides a soft cushion surface to help you relax.
A thinner 2” layer of comfort assists with pressure relief but acts as a transition layer to the firmer support foam below. The 7” high-density support foam provides enough support to keep your spine aligned and your body in a natural posture in any sleep position. Since this bed is made with foam and features several cushioning top layers, you won’t notice much motion transfer at all even if your sleeping partner is restless or leaves the bed.
Our Zinus mattresses have transformed my family’s sleep the last few months. All of our mattresses have been declining in quality as we purchased them used. We decided to invest in new mattresses and could not be happier to have chosen the Zinus brand. They are inexpensive and really comfortable; what else can you ask for out of your mattress?
Tania K.
This thick mattress has a tall profile and has a great balance of comfort and support. This bed encourages airflow through all layers of the mattress to help keep you cool overnight. The Zinus mattress has a 10-year warranty, which is relatively average and is reasonable for the quality and price of the bed. This bed doesn’t have much bounce and lacks responsiveness, though it will still conform well to your body after a few minutes. There is a limited selection of sizes with this bed, though it does come in the most popular choices and should meet most household’s requirements.

Casper Sleep Element Mattress Review
The Best Overall
Casper
We all want a good mattress, but that means different things to different people. For a balance of quality and value, the Casper sleep element mattress is the number one choice since it will help you enjoy better, more restful sleeps but won’t break the bank at the same time.
Casper Sleep Element Mattress Video Review
What We Think of the Casper Sleep Element Mattress
The Casper element mattress is a simple bed with only two layers making up its 10” profile. The top layer is a premium AirScape perforated foam that encourages a healthy airflow through the mattress. The highly breathable foam helps prevent odour buildup over the years and helps you sleep cooler since it gives the heat somewhere to go. This layer offers exceptional pressure relief and contours instantly to your body in response to light pressure.
The base layer of the mattress, or support layer, is a thick durable foam that keeps you from sinking too far into the bed. Though the bed is on the thinner side, the high-density foam base offers enough support to keep your body properly aligned during sleep, whether you’re a back, side, or stomach sleeper. As an added bonus, the soft cover over the bed is eco-friendlier than most since it’s made with up to 9 recycled bottles.
I’m so glad I chose the Casper Element mattress. I’m very picky about my beds and struggled to find one that was within my budget but gave me the quality I need. The firmness of this mattress is perfect and I find it very comfortable to sleep in. I fall asleep faster than I ever used to and feel much more rested in the morning.
Cynthia E.
This bed is equally balanced in terms of softness and firm support, achieving the best of both worlds for people who want to be comfy-cozy while being properly supported. This mattress comes with a 100-night sleep trial as well as a 10-year warranty. Though 10 years is a bit on the shorter end of the warranty scale, it is quite reasonable for the value you’re getting. This bed is great for couples since the soft perforated foam is quite effective at limiting motion transfer. Overall, a great bed for a great price.

Polysleep Zephyr Mattress Review
The Advanced Choice
Polysleep
Those out there with a higher budget and higher standards for a mattress will find their perfect match with this Polysleep Zephyr mattress. It combines new technology with the support and durability you expect of a mattress in this price range.
Polysleep Zephyr Mattress Video Review
What We Think of the Polysleep Zephyr Mattress
The Polysleep Zephyr mattress is one of the most advanced mattresses available. This mattress is highly recommended to people who work manual jobs, professional athletes, and anyone who’s on their feet all day since this bed uses Nanobionic recovery technology to help you recharge and recover overnight. This bed is also certified antimicrobial and works well for people with allergies since the construction of the bed limits allergens and maintains a cleaner surface. The open-cell technology used in the memory foam encourages better air circulation and improved airflow through the mattress.
The Zephyr mattress has a total of 5 foam layers and begins with an organic Nanobionic cover that redirects your body’s infrared rays back to you for a faster recharge and a higher-quality sleep. A GelFlex Plus gel memory foam layer acts as a cooling and heating layer for summer and winter sleeping, respectively. This layer responds to your body’s temperature to keep you at an ideal temperature at all times. A layer of hybrid foam assists the upper layer with pressure relief and contouring for a comfortable sleep. Next up is a thin layer of antimicrobial foam for allergen protection.
I could not be happier that I purchased this mattress from Polysleep. I was a bit hesitant because of the price of it, but let me tell you, every cent was worth it. This mattress is the most comfortable thing I have ever slept on for so many reasons. It keeps me cool in the summer and warm in the winter, and my wife’s movements do not ever disturb my sleep.
Joey T.
This bed uses zoned support foam to better cushion your shoulders and lower body while providing firmer support to keep your spine aligned properly. Below the zoned foam is a firm support foam base that mimics the effects of a box spring for uniform support. The Zephyr bed offers excellent edge support thanks to a proprietary support from that reinforces the mattress structure and prevents sagging from weight at the edge of the bed. This mattress is also a top performer when it comes to motion isolation thanks to zero-motion transfer foam. Despite being quite expensive, this mattress only has a warranty period of 10 years.

Logan and Cove Luxury Pillowtop Mattress Review
The Supreme Comfort Alternative
Logan and Cove
If you enjoy being hugged all night long, you probably want a super soft, thick mattress to sleep on. The Logan and Cove Luxury Pillowtop Mattress is the best choice since it lets you sink into super soft, comfy layers with a pillowtop fill for that supremely soft cushioning we all crave after a hard day.
Logan and Cove Luxury Pillowtop Mattress Video Review
What We Think of the Logan and Cove Luxury Pillowtop Mattress
The Logan and Cove luxury pillowtop mattress is one of the softest luxury beds available in a box. With a mix of silk fill, high-density foams, and memory foam, this bed will without a doubt be the most comfortable thing you’ve slept on in your life. The top fill of the bed is a high-end silk blend that cushions the body and provides the supreme softness you expect. Below the pillowtop layer is a ¾” high-density gel foam with cooling properties to help maintain an optimal sleeping temperature.
The next layer is half an inch of high-density bio foam that provides support and pressure relief at high stress areas. Below is another 1” cooling memory foam layer and 1” more of high-density bio foam. These layers achieve wonderful pressure relief at the joints and contour to the body to keep your weight evenly distributed rather than centered over the shoulders, hips, and knees. The bulk of the mattress comes from another 2” layer of bio foam and spring support. The 8” coils are pocketed and provide uniform support from edge to edge.
I was very surprised by just how comfortable this Logan and Cove mattress is. It’s pretty rare to have a pillowtop layer on a bed that comes in a box, so I wasn’t expecting any miracles, but it is the softest bed I’ve ever slept on. the cover is really soft too and the whole thing is just so cozy. I sleep amazingly well and feel supported no matter how I sleep.
Jen G.
For a hybrid mattress, we’re quite impressed with the motion isolation and edge support it offers, even though it doesn’t have any type of perimeter support like some other beds. Given the pillowtop layer, you won’t feel a ton of bounce even though this mattress uses coils rather than foam for support. The multiple foam and gel layers will keep you cool, comfortable, and supported all night long. This mattress has a 120-night sleep trial and a 15-year warranty, meaning you’ll get excellent value for your dollar with the Logan and Cove luxury pillowtop bed.

Novosbed Mattress Review
The Perfect Mattress Alternative
Novosbed
The Novosbed mattress is the perfect choice for picky sleepers. It can be hard to find a mattress that’s as comfortable and supportive as we need it to be since everyone has different needs and preferences. With the Novosbed perfect firmness guarantee, you’ll find the right high-quality mattress, no doubt about it.
Novosbed Mattress Video Review
What We Think of the Novosbed Mattress
The Novosbed mattress is made out of a few different foams that excel at both supporting the body and providing pressure relief for a higher-quality sleep. The cover is ultra soft on top and has furniture-grade upholstery around the perimeter for extra toughness and durability. The two-way elastic cover will never lose its shape but moves very well with the bed so you don’t feel any resistance when the top layers conform to your curves. This mattress is available in three firmness levels and is super simple to adjust with a comfort+ layer delivered straight to your door.
The cover of the bed is also one of the best we’ve seen for moisture wicking and cooling. The comfort layer of this bed is the first layer you sink into when lying down. It is a memory foam layer that responds instantly to pressure and ensures that there’s enough motion isolation so you won’t feel your partner tossing and turning through the night. The transition layer is another layer of foam, only this one is a bit firmer to provide a seamless transition between the soft give of the memory foam and the sturdy base on the bottom. The final layer is a thick support foam that offers balanced, uniform support from head to toe.
The Novosbed mattress has exceeded all my expectations. I started with the firm bed but switched to the medium after a month since it wasn’t working for me, and they were amazing about it. It was absolutely painless. The washable cover is a nice touch and the bed feels amazing. I can tell that this bed is made to last and I really enjoy the quality of the foam since it is supportive and I don’t wake up with a sore back anymore.
Terry N.
The two bottom layers of the mattress work together to distribute your body weight evenly along the bed to reduce the strain on your joints at high-stress areas such as the hips, shoulders, and lower back. This uniform support supports lumbar alignment and improves your circulation for a better night’s rest. This mattress doesn’t have as much bounce as a hybrid bed, but the memory foam layer is thin enough that you’ll still be able to change position easily since you won’t sink too far and get “stuck” in the bed. A 120-night sleep trial and 15-year warranty ensure your satisfaction and protect your purchase.

Douglas Mattress Review
The Balanced Alternative
Douglas
The Douglas mattress is a highly rated bed that offers an exceptional balance of value, quality, comfort, and support. If you’re looking for a bed that ticks all the boxes, is durable, and has excellent performance in all the right areas, this is the bed for you.
Douglas Mattress Video Review
What We Think of the Douglas Mattress
The Douglas mattress is an affordable but value-packed bed ideal for all types of sleepers. Before we dive in to the construction of the mattress, let’s discuss the cover for a second. The Douglas mattress has a CoolSense cover that is cool to the touch at all times. This cover is the first defense against overheating since it is designed to regulate your temperature and keep you cool. Though the bed is only 10” tall, we’ve got a lot of effective technologies to unpack.
The top layer of the mattress is a 2” layer of cooling gel foam for an extra boost of cooling while you sleep. This gel foam provides effective pressure relief since it conforms to your body and keeps your body weight evenly distributed. The next layer is a 2” Elastex foam that is mildly supportive and does an excellent job of relieving pressure and aligning the spine for a proper sleeping posture. Finally, the 6” motion isolation foam provides most of the support and is superior at motion isolation – not such a leap given its name.
The Douglas mattress is an amazing bed. I sleep hot and usually have a fan on my face overnight, but some nights I don’t even need it since this bed is so good at keeping me cool. My partner is restless and changes positions a lot but it doesn’t wake me up anymore, so they definitely weren’t kidding about the motion isolation. This bed solved out biggest sleeping issues so I’m quite satisfied.
Nick D.
If one of your priorities while mattress shopping is to find a bed that will keep you and your partner asleep even if one of you is getting up to gymnastics in their sleep, this is the bed for you. Since it is an all-foam mattress, you may feel a bit more stuck in the bed if heavier than 250 lbs since there isn’t as much support as some other mattresses offer. This is also a top pick for hot sleepers thanks to the multiple cooling technologies included in the bed. A 12-night sleep trial and 15-year warranty are an excellent bonus considering the price of the bed – this mattress is built to last.

Layla Memory Foam Mattress Review
The 2-in-1 Alternative
Layla
The Layla memory foam mattress is one of the most unique beds on the market, and is ideal for people who need a little variety in their life. If you need a mattress that will adapt to a variety of sleep positions, the Layla bed is the top choice since it so versatile and compatible with everyone.
Layla Memory Foam Mattress Video Review
What We Think of the Layla Memory Foam Mattress
The Layla mattress is quite unique in that it has two firmness ratings. The bed is designed to be firm on one side and softer on the other so that no matter how you sleep, you’ll have the comfort and support you need to sleep soundly. There’s a fair amount of technology in this mattress, so let’s dive right in. A cooling cover wraps around the bed, white on the soft side and black on the firm side. This cover has thermo-gel cooling technology that reacts to your fluctuating body temperature to actively keep you cool for all 8 hours.
Starting with the soft side up, we have a 3” layer of copper-gel memory foam. This thick layer of memory foam offers great contouring to provide pressure relief and a softer feel. The copper in the foam is antimicrobial and naturally controls odour in the mattress so it stays fresh and clean for years. This layer is heat resistant and works with the cover to prevent overheating. The next layer is an orange airflow support foam measuring 2” in height. This foam has deep channeling to promote air circulation through the mattress and is a bit firmer than the memory foam to offer more support to the spine.
The Layla bed has given me exactly what I need since my boyfriend and I are not compatible when we sleep. I prefer a soft mattress so I almost always have the soft side up, but my boyfriend likes a firmer mattress so we flip it when he sleeps over. No matter which side I sleep on, I feel very comfortable. Plus, the black and white look is super attractive.
Julie M.
The next layer acts as the support for both sides of the mattress. It is 4” thick and supports the softer foams around it. This foam offers exceptional motion isolation for restless sleepers but has minimal bounce, so you may feel slight difficulty when moving around in the bed. Next up is a 1” layer of copper-gel memory foam that acts as the cushion on the firm side. It is much thinner than the other copper layer, accounting for the change in firmness between the sides. This bed has a lifetime warranty guarantee and a 120-night sleep trial.

Ashley 12” Chime Memory Foam Mattress Review
The Basic Alternative
Ashley
If you believe that a mattress is just a mattress and doesn’t need to be fancy, this is the best choice. The Ashley 12” chime memory foam mattress doesn’t have any advanced technologies or features but is supportive and comfortable, making it a great simplistic choice for budget-minded shoppers.
What We Think of the Ashley 12” Chime Memory Foam Mattress
The Ashley mattress has a relatively tall profile at 12” of height. It has three layers as well as its own protective cover for a little extra life expectancy. The cover is a stretch knit material that is highly breathable. Since breathability is key for keeping the mattress cool and healthy, we’re off to a great start. The next layer is a 2” thick memory foam responsible for pressure relief and comfort. This layer will contour to your body to take stress of areas such as the shoulder, hip, and knee regions to ensure that you don’t put undo stress on your body.
The next later is 2” of transition foam that sits right in the middle of the firmness scale compared to the top and bottom layers. This transition foam adds a bit of support to the top layer to provide a bit of resistance when you sink into the bed. The final layer of the bed is an 8” core that is firmer than the above layers. This foam acts as a support for the top two layers as well as ensures spinal alignment and lumbar support so your body stays relaxed while you sleep.
This mattress is nice and thick which I enjoy, especially since it is a bit softer and you sink into it more. I was very happy with the price of this bed and find it very comfortable to sleep in. This bed feels nice and supportive but is quite soft and comfortable as well. I look forward to seeing how it holds with time. Overall, a pretty decent bed for the price.
Carter A.
This bed does lack bounce since it is made entirely of foam, and it isn’t as durable as many other options on our list. The 10-year warranty helps protect your purchase and ensures you’ll get several great years out of this bed. This mattress is also hypoallergenic, making it a great choice for people with sensitivities to certain allergens like pet dander and mold. Plus, it keeps dust mites at bay for a healthier bed all around.

Classic Brands Cool Gel Mattress Review
The Hypoallergenic Alternative
Classic Brands
Allergies suck. But since our mattress holds many allergens and is often made using some of them, sleeping well can be challenging for people with sensitivities. The Classic Brands cool gel mattress is the perfect choice for those with allergies since it is hypoallergenic.
Classic Brands Cool Gel Mattress Video Review
What We Think of the Classic Brands Cool Gel Mattress
The Classic Brands cool gel mattress has a 10.5” profile and features 3 comfortable and supportive layers that offer a medium-firm feel ideal for back and stomach sleepers in particular. This bed has a cool gel foam layer on top, hence its name. This layer contours well to the body and provides a cool sleeping surface overnight, ensuring you won’t wake up in a sweat or experience a lower-quality sleep due to heat.
The second layer is an airflow gel support layer that’s a bit firmer than the top memory foam and gives the bed a bit more bounce than it would otherwise have. The final layer is 6.5” of support foam that reinforces the softer upper layers and supports optimal spinal alignment. This bed is very breathable, is made with eco-friendliness in mind, and is hypoallergenic. The top cover is incredibly soft and is 4-way stretchable to ensure that it doesn’t limit any contouring or pressure relief. Since this is an all-foam mattress, it is compatible with adjustable beds and all other types of mattress foundations.
This mattress has great motion isolation and I’ve noticed a deeper sleep since changing from my last bed. It has a firmer feel that is perfect for me on my stomach and back. The price is great and the cover is very soft. This is a very comfortable bed and it was super easy to unpack and unroll after it arrived.
Lynn J.
This bed offers excellent motion isolation thanks to the top memory foam layers, meaning you won’t feel your partner moving during the night. This bed is breathable from cover to base and protects against allergens like dander and dust. The mattress comes with a 20-year warranty but no sleep trial. Despite these positive features, we did find issue with a couple of things. First, the second half of the warranty requires you to pay shipping and repair fees. Second, there isn’t any foam of reinforced perimeter for edge support, so perching at the edge of the bed to sleep is no recommended.

Overall, this is a great mattress for a variety of people. It’s a great fit for those with allergies, people who are on a budget, restless sleepers, and hot sleepers. The breathability of the mattress, combined with the high-density foams, ensure that it stays healthy and clean for years to come.
Linenspa Hybrid Mattress Review
The Affordable Alternative
Linenspa
For people shopping on a strict budget, it can be difficult to find a comfortable and supportive bed that’s of reasonable quality. The Linenspa hybrid mattress is incredibly affordable but is still high-quality enough to give you value for your money and last many years.
Linenspa Hybrid Mattress Video Review
What We Think of the Linenspa Hybrid Mattress
The Linenspa hybrid mattress follows a very simple design. The top layer is a quilted memory foam followed by a layer of thick comfort foam and the support is a layer of 6” springs plus support foam. The memory foam layer provides pressure relief and comfort by contouring to the body and providing that “sinking” feeling when you lie down. The comfort layer is a touch firmer than the memory foam and offers a bit more support to help align the spine and ease the transition to the innersprings.
The 6” springs in the support layer of the bed are responsible for most of the support you feel in this bed. This layer keeps the spine aligned and offers uniform support from head to toe. There’s also a thin layer of support foam at the very bottom of the mattress to add a bit of extra cushioning and help extend the life of the mattress. This bed has a medium feel and is ideal for all types of sleepers since the springs will help the upper layers conform to your body and distribute your body weight evenly on the bed. The cover is incredibly soft but is not removable so you’ll need a mattress protector or sheet on top to prevent staining.
I just moved out on my own and needed a cheap mattress to start me off, and the Linenspa bed has been perfect. I like a bouncy bed so I enjoy the tall springs in this mattress and the thick memory foam layer on top is very comfortable. I often hang out in my bed and it stays comfortable for hours. I’m happy with my purchase and recommend it to anyone who needs to spend as little as possible on a bed.
Gregory K.
This bed is quite standard and doesn’t have any advanced cooling technologies, though it is quite breathable thanks to its hybrid design. There is also limited edge support with this mattress since the springs will sink under targeted weight and the bed doesn’t have a reinforced perimeter. If your goal is to shop on a budget, this is the right bed for you, but there are more advanced options for better performance if you want some better features.

Overall, the Linenspa mattress is pretty great for the price. It is one of the most affordable beds out there and offers a great balance of support and comfort. However, it lacks most advanced features that we see in mattresses nowadays and may be better as a guest bed rather than your main sleeping surface if you can afford something a little higher-end.

What We Think of the Silk & Snow The S&S Mattress
If you want a high quality mattress that is still affordable, the Silk & Snow The S&S Mattress is a great choice. The Silk & Snow The S&S Mattress includes 4 pounds of plush memory foam. This memory foam is designed to be both highly comfortable and durable.
The Silk & Snow The S&S Mattress comes with three layers for optimal comfort and loft. Layer one is the 4 pound luxury cooling memory foam. Layer two is transitional performance foam, which offers great support and motion isolation. Multiple customers note this is one of the best mattresses in terms of motion isolation.
The last layer is 1.8 pounds of base layer foam. This provides a great foundation for the rest of the mattress and prevents it from sagging.
This memory foam mattress is one of the best because it is made from high quality materials. The foam source is Vitafoam, which uses new technologies to create memory foam that lasts much longer than other mattresses. You can count on this mattress to hold its shape for up to 10 years.
This is our second Silk & Snow mattress, we love it even more than the first.

Something else we love about this mattress is its price. Although it isn’t the cheapest mattress available, it still offers superior quality at a more affordable price. So, it’s a great choice if you are looking to splurge a little bit without completely destroying your budget.
Given that we did not rank this mattress as our best overall pick, there obviously are some things we don’t like about it. For starters, its complete memory foam construction means it isn’t ideal for stomach sleepers.
Because it isn’t ideal for stomach sleepers, we wouldn’t recommend this to all users. Nonetheless, the Silk & Snow The S&S Mattress is a great mattress because of its high quality memory foam and affordable price.

Endy Mattress Review
The All-Position Alternative
Endy
If you are looking for a mattress that is supportive and comfortable in every sleeping position, you’ve found the right one for you. The Endy mattress is built to suit every sleeper no matter their position preference, and its highly affordable to boot.
Endy Mattress Video Review
What We Think of the Endy Mattress
The Endy mattress is 10” tall with three supportive and comfortable layers. Your first sensory experience with the Endy mattress is the poly knit cover, which is incredibly soft and machine washable for convenience. This bed has a very obvious comfort layer, transition layer, and support layer. The first layer is a proprietary Endy memory foam that provides satisfying contouring and pressure relief for your joints. This foam helps distribute your bodyweight evenly and keeps the spine aligned for a more relaxed sleep. The foam has an open cell design that promotes airflow to keep you and the bed cool at all times.
The transition layer is comprised of a slightly firmer polyfoam that slows your progress through the mattress layers and provides a little extra support in the upper half of the bed. This layer leads into the high-density support foam that makes up the bulk of the height of the mattress. This layer is incredibly durable and offers uniform support from edge to edge. Even though this mattress is on the thinner side overall, the thick support foam makes it feel like you’re supported by more than just 10”.
My boyfriend and I could not be happier with our Endy mattress. We knew this was the mattress for us after the first night sleeping on it. We are both restless sleepers, but with this mattress, we never woke each other up. Now we only have ourselves to blame! I’ve never slept on a more comfortable bed. Get this mattress, you won’t regret it!
Alisha R.
Plus, this medium firm bed is great for all sleep positions and will hold up well with heavier individuals. However, this mattress has a 10-year warranty, which is usually the lowest warranty period for a mattress, and the sleep trial is only 100 days, which is one of the shortest trials offered by mattress manufacturers and retailers. Overall, you can’t really go wrong with the Endy mattress since it’s affordable and comfortable.

Things to Know Before Buying a Mattress
Why a Good Mattress is so Important for Your Health ?
Since sleep is so important for our health, and a good mattress helps us sleep more and better, it follows that a good mattress has a huge impact on our health, if only be extension. A good mattress, and a better sleep, have the following health benefits:
- Reduced stress
- Improved immune system
- Better mood
- Reduced stress
- Improved cognitive functioning and decision-making
- Better focus
- Lower risk for diabetes, heart disease, stroke, and others
- Higher likelihood of avoiding injury thanks to an improved sense of awareness from not being tired
- Less weight gain
- Improved productivity
- Maximized athletic performance, even in daily tasks
- Improved symptoms of depression and anxiety
- Less inflammation in the body
Even though that’s a pretty big list, that’s not all a good mattress can do for you. A comfortable mattress that has the right firmness for your sleeping position will limit your tossing and turning during the night. Restless sleeping greatly impacts your overall quality sleep and is most often caused by using the wrong type of mattress for your body. Choosing a high-density foam restricts dust mites from taking up residence in your mattress and can help reduce allergy systems. A supportive mattress can help with snoring since a saggy mattress doesn’t support your neck and head enough, leading to a constricted throat. A properly supportive mattress, particularly zoned mattresses, will align your spine and support the natural curve of your back so you have better posture and fewer aches and pains in the morning.
What Certifications Should I Look for in a Mattress?
A mattress will come with a variety of certifications that prove it has met certain standards in the mattress industry. Since a good bed and a great sleep are vital for your health, it’s important that your mattress meets all important standards and requirements. Most certifications are related to organic mattresses and blends since there are many standards that must be met, but a few also apply to the chemical compounds and emissions prevalent with synthetic mattresses as well. Here are the most common certifications you’ll find in connection with a new bed:
Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS)
The global organic textile standard is related to organic mattresses. This certification means that from start to finish, the mattress is organic. This includes everything from processing, manufacturing, packaging, labelling, and distribution. There are two different grades involved with this certification. One is the full organic grade, which means over 95% of the mattress is comprised of organic fibers, and the grade that certifies at least 70% of the mattress is organic content. This certification ensures that the mattress does not contain polyurethane foam, toxic chemicals, or other synthetic materials.
Global Organic Latex Standard (GOLS)
The global organic latex standard certification also applies to organic mattresses, but unlike the GOTS certification, only applies to latex mattresses, meaning a latex mattress can have both certifications but a normal organic mattress can only have the GOTS certification. This certification confirms the presence of at least 95% organic latex. There are also chemical restrictions associated with this certification, such as VOCs and flame retardants. To be eligible, latex mattresses with cotton fills or covers must also be certified organic since synthetic forms are not permissible.
Organic Content Standard
The organic content standard certification is twofold: one certifies a 100% organic mattress while the other certifies an organic blend ranging anywhere from 5-99%. This certification will be present on any mattress that claims organic components since all organic materials must be grown and processed to meet certain standards. With this certification, chemicals that are added to raw materials involved with the manufacturing process, including finishes and dyes, are not included.
USDA Certified Organic
The USDA certified organic certifications is another one that tackles organic standards in the mattress industry, but applies only to agricultural products. To be certified organic, the linen, cotton, hemp, or wool must be a minimum of 95% organic while 70% organic is the threshold to be certified “made with organic.” These agricultural products must be grown and processed without the use of fertilizers and pesticides. One shortfall of this certifications is that it does not address the presence of toxic chemicals that are commonly found in non-organic mattress components.
GREENGUARD and GREENGUARD Gold
The GREENGUARD certifications restrict the emissions of volatile organic compounds, or VOCs, from the mattress. These certifications have strict standards both for specific VOCs as well as the overall VOC output of the mattress. The Gold standard is much stricter, but both are desirable to have since VOCs are harmful. This certification is important since some VOCs such as benzene, formaldehyde, and acetaldehyde are associated with an increased risk of developing cancer.
CertiPUR-US
The CertiPUR-US certification is a much more common certification since it is associated with polyurethane foam, a foam commonly found in most types of mattresses. This certification ensures that all mattresses containing polyurethane foam meet the standards and restrictions for VOC emissions, chemical ingredients, and durability. While this in no way certifies that the mattress is healthy and made without potentially harmful flame retardants and phthalates, it does certify that the foam is made without certain types of them or any heavy metals.
What are the Different Types of Mattresses?
Mattresses are not one-size-fits all. We each have different needs when it comes to how we sleep and what we sleep on. some mattresses are better than others for things like pressure relief and support, but they each have their own pros and cons that make them right or wrong for different types of sleepers. Here are the different types of mattresses to choose from when it’s time to replace your bed:
Innerspring Mattresses
Innerspring mattresses are one of the oldest and most popular types of mattresses. They follow a very simple design with a thin comfort layer on top, usually wool, cotton, or a softer layer of coils, and a thick support layer made of large steel coil springs. These mattresses are more affordable than most other types, are easy to transport since they weigh less, are available in a variety of sizes and firmness levels, and are widely available. They do have a few downsides, though, in that they are less durable, need to be replaced more often, may become noisy as they age, can become lopsided over time, and aren’t as effective for pressure relief or edge support.
Foam Mattresses
Foam mattresses are another highly popular choice. These mattresses typically have a memory foam top layer, a firmer transition layer, and a high-density support form. These mattresses are more likely to have cooling technologies included and are wonderful for pressure relief. They are more comfortable over long periods of time than innerspring mattresses and are ideal for a wide variety of body types since they are great at distributing body weight evenly. Foam mattresses are excellent for motion isolation and pain relief as well. While they don’t last as long as some natural and latex mattresses, they are much more durable than simple spring beds. They are also a bit more expensive than innerspring beds, though much more affordable than some other types. These beds are also compatible with adjustable bed frames since they are more flexible than other types. Their flexibility is also part of why they’re easy to move since they bend around corners better.
Hybrid Mattresses
Hybrid mattresses are a combination of an innerspring mattress and a foam mattress. They’re available in a wide variety of firmness ratings and sizes, making them easy to find. These mattresses come in all kinds of combinations, with large or small coils, one or multiple types of polyfoam and memory foam layers, and sometimes even latex. A hybrid mattress truly is the best of both worlds since you get some more affordability plus some thicker comfort layers for pressure relief and motion isolation. Though they won’t always last as long as other types, they are more durable than innerspring mattresses and can come with a 15–25-year warranty.
Latex Mattresses
Latex mattresses are another type of foam mattress, but they’re considered a specialty mattress. There are both hybrid and all-foam latex mattresses since the latex is in a foam to make it more versatile. These mattresses are much more expensive than normal foam since latex is a unique material. It has natural cooling properties that make it a great choice for hot sleepers and summer nights. Latex mattresses often last 20 years or more depending on the quality. These mattresses are usually quite heavy, but they’re durable and sometimes are entirely organic as well, rather than only partially.
Natural Fiber Mattresses
Natural fiber mattresses are popular for a lot of reasons. They’re made using eco-friendly alternatives to the chemical and synthetic materials used in most standard mattresses. Since they’re organic, they’re ideal for people with allergies and sensitivities who struggle with synthetic blends. These mattresses are made from biodegradable and sustainable materials, though some are not fully biodegradable depending on the composition. These mattresses are made of materials like bamboo, organic cotton or wool, hemp, coconut coir, latex, or a combination of these. This type of mattress is quite expensive but is the best choice for the environment.
How to Properly Choose Your Mattress
- Price.
Price is a tricky thing when it comes to a mattress because they are designed to last for a decade or more at a minimum. Some mattresses are only a few hundred for a queen size while others are several thousand. Judging the value of a bed is difficult since people require different things from their mattress and have varying standards, so it’s best to set a comfortable budget for yourself first and then narrow down your choices based on features and quality from there.
- Type.
The type of mattress you choose is one of the most important factors. The most popular choices are hybrid, foam, and organic mattress. Each type is set at a different price point and they all have their pros and cons, so it’s best to do some research beforehand to determine which type of mattress will best suit your needs and your budget.
- Firmness.
A medium firm mattress is the most common choice, though there are many combinations on the softer and firmer sides as well. It ultimately comes down to personal preference regarding which firmness level is best for you, but you should consider your size, any pain that may worsen with less support, and how soft you want your mattress to be. It is possible to have a firm mattress with a plush or pillowtop for comfort, so you can easily find a mattress that meets all your needs.
- Size.
The size of the bed you choose mostly comes down to your age and sleeping situation. A child’s bed is usually a twin, a teen’s bed is probably a double, and a couple’s bed is usually either a queen or king, but your height will determine which bed you need at different stages of your life as well. You should also consider the profile of the mattress when making your choice since some are much taller than others and should be compatible with your chosen base, whether that’s a basic frame and box spring or an adjustable foundation.
- Support and Alignment.
A good mattress is supportive. Even if you enjoy the softer beds, you need adequate support or you’ll be waking up in pain. Whether you choose a spring/hybrid or a foam support system, the bed should be capable of supporting and aligning your spine so you remain in a relaxed, natural position during sleep. A supportive mattress also helps keep the mattress in better shape since it won’t sink or sag in spots like a too-soft mattress is prone to do.
- Edge Support.
While not as crucial as some other features, reliable edge support is a huge plus for a lot of people. A sturdy edge helps keep the mattress in great shape and ensures you won’t slide off the bed when putting on your socks in the morning or if you enjoy perching at the edge of the bed to sleep. Your mattress should have uniform support from edge to edge to ensure you sleep well no matter where you end up in the bed overnight.
- Motion Isolation.
Motion transfer is an issue for restless sleepers and those who share a bed with a restless partner – either the two-legged or four-legged variety. Most foam and hybrid mattresses offer enough motion isolation to keep you sleeping well even if your partner changes positions, but you may need a better performer if you or your partner are more restless than average.
- Materials.
The materials that your bed is made of is quite important, especially if you have allergies or sensitivities. Most standard mattresses are made with chemicals and synthetic materials, which is okay for many people, but others want natural materials in the surface that they rest their body on for hours every night. Organic mattresses are eco-friendly as well, though other synthetic blend mattresses may also use some recycled and all-natural materials for a lower eco footprint as well.
- Cooling.
Whether you sleep hot or not, cooling technologies are an important aspect of a good mattress. Some mattresses may only have one cooling technology while others may have multiple layers that help regular temperature through the night. Gel layers, latex layers, and perforated/aerated foams are a great choice for people who sleep hot. The cooler the mattress stays, the deeper sleep you’ll have.
- Pressure Relief.
One of the most important jobs of a mattress is to keep us comfortable while we sleep. This can only be accomplished if the mattress has good pressure relief. A thick comfort layer is the ticket here, but thinner mattresses can be just as useful with the right layers. A bed that conforms to your curves will maintain even pressure on your body so your joints aren’t overly taxed while you sleep.
- Airflow.
A mattress that has no airflow is a mattress that traps heat, odours, and allergens. Many mattresses come with perforated layers or have a spring base that allow for air to travel through the bed. Air circulation not only keeps you cooler but helps keep odours at bay over the years and is ideal for maintaining a clean and healthy mattress.
- Durability.
Since a new mattress is a fairly large investment, it’s important that the bed will stand the test of time. A durable mattress has things like protective covers, a reinforced perimeter for edge support and shape, high-density foams, and more. All of these features keep the mattress in good shape and prevent damage such as lost height or loss of shape from occurring.
- Sleep Trial.
A sleep trial is important when choosing a mattress since it can take several weeks for your body to adjust to a new bed. You need time to make sure that you have a compatible fit for your body and your preferences, so most mattresses come with a sleep trial period of 100-120 nights. A sleep trial lets you return or exchange a mattress hassle-free within the allotted timeframe if it doesn’t work for you.
- Warranty.
The warranty on a mattress is incredibly important since we want it to last as long as possible. Spring mattresses typically have the lowest lifespan while hybrid and latex mattresses usually last 20-25 years. The warranty period is a great identifier of the quality of the mattress since it shows that the company has designed the mattress to last at least that long. While 10 years is still great for a lower-end mattress many mattresses come with at least 15 years of coverage.
