Razer DeathAdder V2 Gaming Mouse Video Review

What We Think of The Razer DeathAdder V2 Gaming Mouse

The Razer DeathAdder V2 gaming mouse is a top-tier choice. It uses a 20K DPI optical sensor which means it offers incredible sensitivity adjustment that makes your cursor respond more precisely. With light beam-based actuation, button presses register up to 3 times faster than the traditional mechanical switch. This feature is essential for split-second responses from every click.

The mouse has a great design with special features like a customizable Chroma RGB lighting with 16.8million colour options. There are also some pre-set colour profiles if you don’t want to set your own. Since it syncs with game play, your mouse acts as if its alive and heightens the gaming experience. The shape and weight of the mouse are ideal for longer gaming sessions since your hand will be comfortable and supported regardless of your chosen grip.

I am no pro gamer but I can say this mouse is amazing. The 20,000 DPI is a game-changer for sure. I have medium-sized hands and it feels a touch big for me but nothing I couldn’t get used to. All the extra buttons work on Mac, but you can only download Synapse 3 on Windows and your profiles won’t work on Mac. It’s very lightweight, responsive, accurate, and ergonomic. 10/10 for gamers.

jack r.

This gaming house has 8 programmable buttons, which is 4 more than average. These buttons allow for assignment and mapping of complex macro functions, and they’re easily programmed through Razer Synapse. The mouse is corded, which can sometimes be a negative if it affects speed, but the Razer DeathAdder cord is designed to be drag-free for performance similar to that of wireless reflexes.

Razer Viper Ultimate Wireless Gaming Mouse Video Review

What We Think of The Razer Viper Ultimate Wireless Gaming Mouse

The Razer Viper Ultimate wireless gaming mouse is a top choice if you hate corded mice. This mouse includes HyperSpeed wireless technology that makes it up to 25% faster to respond than traditional wireless mice. This results in extremely low latency and stronger interference reduction so that you don’t experience lags or momentary connection interruptions that make you miss your shot or fail a level unnecessarily.

The 20K DPI optical sensor provides speed and accuracy with excellent responsiveness and precise movements with the slightest twitch of the mouse. The mouse is one of the lightest in its size at only 74g, so you’ll barely feel it when you move your hand. This means reduced fatigue during longer gaming sessions as well as better performance since it moves more smoothly across your mousepad.

This is a really good wireless mouse, so long as the USB transceiver is within 2 feet with absolutely nothing blocking the line of sight between it and the mouse. It tracks very accurately, and its responsiveness is indistinguishable from when it is plugged in. I find it very comfortable to use, though the low back end makes claw grip your best option if you have a larger hand.

jason t.

The ambidextrous hand design is a definite plus since it allows for right- and left-handed users. While it isn’t as contoured for the hand as a right-handed mouse usually is, it remains comfortable and supportive no matter which is your dominant hand. The 8 programmable buttons are adequate for every type of game with simple assignment through Razer Synapse 3. Users may notice that the side buttons can easily be accidentally pressed during gameplay, but as you get used to their placement this shouldn’t affect your game.

Logitech G Pro X Superlight Gaming Mouse Video Review

What We Think of The Logitech G Pro X Superlight Gaming Mouse

The Logitech G Pro X Superlight gaming mouse lives up to its name: it only weighs 63g, making it one of the lightest full-size gaming mice on the market. Weight is important with gaming mice since they must respond intuitively to very minor movements, and a lightweight mouse moves smoother and faster than a heavier one. Plus, it’s easier on the fingers for extended game play without fatigue and mistakes.

This mouse has an impressive 25K sensor that makes it one of the most responsive and speedy gaming mice on the market. This high-budget option delivers excellent performance in every way, including the Hero sensor, zero-additive PTFE feet for smooth gliding, and optimized responsiveness for better control and precision. The ambidextrous design of the makes it compatible with left-handed gamers as well.

Initially, I didn’t think this mouse was worth the price. I have since changed my mind. It is perfect in all its core points. It is incredibly fast, responds instantly, and is wireless for more freedom. It has Bluetooth functionality, is light and balanced, and feels really comfortable with hours of use. I would definitely say it is more hobbyist gear than casual/normal user.

thomas u.

This wireless mouse has a generous battery life of 70 hours for every charge. This is more than enough to provide several long days of gaming without fear of a dead battery. We particularly enjoy the battery light indicator and profile indicator lights. The charge time is quite reasonable, though you can still play while your battery charges. With only 5 programmable buttons, this is a noticeable difference from 8, but this also reduces confusion and streamlines your functions.

Razer Viper Mini Ultralight Gaming Mouse Video Review

What We Think of the Razer Viper Mini Ultralight Gaming Mouse

The Razer Viper Mini Ultralight gaming mouse is smaller than the standard mouse, but it’s not so small that a medium-sized hand won’t feel comfortable using it. The smaller body results in a very lightweight 61g heft, and users will appreciate the faster motion and reduced finger fatigue that this offers. This mouse has a button that cycles up sensitivity stages which allows users to customize their experience.

There are 6 programmable buttons on this mouse which is more than enough for every gamer to assign every important function without being overwhelming. Though this is a wired mouse, the drag-free design gives it near-wireless performance since the cord won’t weigh down the mouse or hinder its movement in any way. It is designed to reduce drag and move flawlessly with the mouse.

Simple, no nonsense fingertip mouse that is lightweight and small. I found that this Viper Mini has a lower click latency than both the Viper Ultimate and the Superlight X, and the smaller grip isn’t too noticeable that a normal-sized hand isn’t comfortable. I’ve used several grip types comfortably when gaming or working. The sensor works fast and tracks really smoothly. It doesn’t show fingerprints either.

grant y.

As a budget-friendly option, we aren’t surprised that it only has an 8500 DPI optical sensor, but this should still be plenty for most games unless you’re requiring speed over accuracy. Like other Razer gaming mice, the Viper Mini has customizable Chroma RGB colour profiles with 16.8 million colour options. However, it offers a bonus underglow feature that looks so much cooler than mice without this feature. If aesthetic is important to you, this is a great option.

Logitech G502 SE Hero Gaming Mouse Video Review

What We Think of the Logitech G502 SE Hero Gaming Mouse

The Logitech G502 SE Hero gaming mouse has one of the best aesthetics of all mice, gaming or otherwise, but the design genius doesn’t stop at its outward appearance. This mouse has an adjustable weight system that uses five 3.6g weights that can be removed or added according to your specific preference. You can also choose where to place the weights if you’re not using all of them to better balance the mouse for your preference.

The mouse also has programmable lightsync technology with RGB lighting that offers 16.8 million colour options for you to customize. This mouse offers a great click experience as well with a metal spring tensioning system that produces a cleaner, crisp click feel and more rapid click feedback. There are 11 customizable buttons for you to assign macro functions to, and these are supported by onboard memory that stores up to 5 profiles for settings catered to different players or different games.

For the price, this is a superb mouse. It’s comfy, tracks perfectly, and the mouse acceleration is what it should be as well. The DPI rating is more than enough for 1440p gaming. This thing has some weight to it, but it’s adjustable with 5 weights so you do have a little bit of choice there. The aesthetic is one of my favourites on any mouse as well.

tony c.

The 16K DPI sensor doesn’t compete with the 25K Logitech sensor, but it is more than enough for 99% of gamers. This DPI range provides speed, responsiveness, and accuracy for a great game experience and total control over movement. This is a right-handed mouse, so left-handed users are unfortunately out of luck. One issue that may pop up after some extended use is a double-click issue that can mess up your game when it occurs.

This is a well-balanced corded gaming mouse that most gamers will find suitable in terms of comfort and ergonomics, customizability, design, and speed. Razer Basilisk X HyperSpeed Wireless Gaming Mouse Video Review

What We Think of The Razer Basilisk X HyperSpeed Wireless Gaming Mouse

The Razer Basilisk X HyperSpeed wireless gaming mouse is one of the best wireless options because of its battery life and connection options that set it apart from the wireless competition. If using the USB insert, your battery life will last upwards of 285 hours. That’s pretty impressive. But when using this mouse’s Bluetooth connection option, you’ll be able to take advantage of a staggering 450 hours of battery life. Talk about true wireless freedom!

The Bluetooth connection option is indeed convenient for many gamers, but it will lag more than the HyperSpeed Wireless option. So, depending on your required performance and your desired battery life, you have two great options to choose between. There are 6 programmable buttons for configuration of macro functions through razer Synapse 3, which is the perfect amount for most gamers.

This is a really good mouse. The battery life is excellent, I end up charging it about once a month with really heavy use, probably 12 hours a day most days. The ergonomics are great with the rubber sides and the shape. I’ve never had any issues with the connection lagging or dropping out. One annoying thing is that the scroll wheel is a bit too insensitive and won’t register until you’ve gone past one full notch. Not good for precise weapon change.

arman j.

The 16K DPI sensor is ideal for even the most intense games, but it isn’t so high that accuracy becomes an issue. The mouse is rated for 50 million clicks, and with the top rating being 70 million clicks, the durability is ideal as well. However, the lack of left-handed compatibility is a disappointing flaw, and it won’t move as smoothly since it weighs roughly double many other gaming mice. The heavier weight may become noticeable after several hours, but below that it shouldn’t make much of a difference.

Logitech G Pro Wireless Gaming Mouse Video Review

What We Think of the Logitech G Pro Wireless Gaming Mouse

The Logitech G Pro wireless gaming mouse is another option with the industry-leading Logitech Hero sensor with 25K DPI. Though most gamers won’t need anywhere near this level for their games, it does provide the performance boost necessary to negate the wireless limitations usually associated with gaming mice. This sensor also has ten times the power efficiency compared to the lower 16K generation, meaning you’ll enjoy improved wireless speed, responsiveness, and battery life.

An ultra lightweight super-thin exoskeleton makes this mouse more maneuverable than the full-size competition with a total weight of 80 grams. We’re pleased with the ambidextrous design of the mouse as well since left-handed users aren’t left out. This mouse does have one fatal design flaw, however, which may turn off many gamers: double-click issues are quite common with this mouse.

I really enjoy using this mouse. It is lightweight, really comfortable to use for long periods, has a great battery life, all the most important features in my opinion. However, the double click issues plagues it just like many other Logitech wireless mice, especially the left click. Often, it will register as a double click and start glitching if you’re holding to drag something.

bobby w.

The defining feature on this Logitech G Pro gaming mouse is that the 4 programmable buttons can actually be removed. This means you can set up a totally unique configuration with your buttons and settings to have them placed where you want them and to remove them if you don’t need all of them in place. The charging cable is 1.8 metres, so you’ll be able to charge and play with ease no matter your setup.

  • Efficiency: Is the product efficient in its task or do you need to give it some help? Is it for example powerful, fast, quiet?
  • Usability: Is the product easy to handle, easy to use and maintain?
  • Price: Is the price of the product and/or accessories and/or spare parts reasonable compared to the rest of the market?

In addition to these main criteria, we then establish a list of specific criteria for each product category, detailed a little further down in this article.

In the end, the products we recommend are the ones we would want to buy, and the ones we would also choose for our friends and family.

Things to Know Before Buying a Gaming Mouse

What Makes a Gaming Mouse Different From a Normal Computer Mouse?

There are a few features that make gaming mice different from traditional mice.

A gaming mouse is more sensitive, more responsive, and more suited to gaming in general since it includes macro keys, or additional buttons, that can be programmed to perform functions and streamline the gaming process.

Aside from performance, gaming mice are more durable, usually with a 50 million to 70 million click life, and are more ergonomic than normal computer mice since gamers often spend hours in the same hand position.

Are Gaming Mice Necessary?

For most gamers, no, they’re not really necessary. However, they are incredibly useful and most gamers swear by them.

Gaming mice allow you to be more efficient and more precise in your games since the extra buttons allow you to do more with a single hand, and are better performers that improve your performance in your games.

While not necessary to game, they may be considered necessary to game particularly well.

What Size of Gaming Mouse Do I Need?

Since you’ll be spending countless hours using your gaming mouse, it needs to fit your hand properly. A small difference in size can make a big difference in feel, so it’s important to be accurate.

You’ll need to measure your hand from the end of your palm to the tip of your middle finger to gain a measurement that can be applied to the size of your mouse.

If your hand is under 16.9cm long, a small mouse is ideal. For hands between 17cm and 19.9cm long, a medium mouse is right. A large mouse is designed for hands longer than 19.6cm.

Of course, the shape of the mouse will make a big difference in how it feels, as will your grip of choice, so these numbers don’t necessarily guarantee a good fit.

What’s the Difference Between Laser Sensor and Optical Sensor?

The main difference between a laser mouse and an optical mouse is how the sensor operates. With a laser mouse, you could game on any surface.

However, since the laser penetrates through surfaces, the in-game movement can become jittery and inconsistent for the slower moves.

Since a lot of video games require accuracy and precise, slower movements as well as fast responses, the optical mouse is the preferred choice, especially given that modern technology gives optical sensors high DPIs just like laser mice.

How to Properly Choose Your Gaming Monitor

Gaming Mouse

  1. Price.

Whether you’re a casual gamer or gaming is your entire lifestyle, price is a factor when looking at purchasing a new mouse. Gaming equipment can be expensive, but a new mouse won’t break the bank no matter how high-end you’re looking.

The main difference between budget options and expensive ones is the DPI, durability, and overall build quality. No matter your budget, it will be fairly easy to find a compromise between these characteristics.

  1. Weight.

The weight of a gaming mouse is more important than you might think. A heavier mouse produces more drag and is more difficult to move as quickly as a lighter mouse. For optimal performance and limited fatigue while you game for hours at a time, the lighter the mouse is the better.

  1. Programmable Buttons.

Every gaming mouse will have programmable buttons, and these buttons allow you to set up extra functions that you can perform with a single click.

Depending on the game you’re playing, you can set these buttons to perform a number of functions. In a shooter game, for example, you could program different buttons for reloading, rapid fire, scoping, quick weapon switching, throwing grenades, and more.

In more general terms, these buttons can be used to heal, cast spells, adjust positions, adjust camera angles, adjust speed of movement like walking or sprinting, and more.

They can also be used to set up macros. Macros make short work of complex tasks that usually require a series of clicks and keystrokes, such as a combo attack.

  1. Memory Function.

The memory function on some gaming mice is really helpful since it can remember one to five setting profiles for your games.

This could be useful if you have multiple players using the mouse or if you’re playing a variety of games that use the programmable buttons.

All mice will save your main settings, but additional profiles are incredibly useful for switching between games or game tasks.

  1. DPI.

DPI, or dots per inch, refers to how sensitive your gaming mouse is. The range is pretty significant, with the budget models starting at around 3500 DPI and top-of-the-line models hitting over 25K DPI.

When you consider that the average computer mouse has about 1000 DPI, even the most basic gaming mouse will perform much better than a normal mouse.

That being said, the higher the DPI, the more responsiveness, precision, and speed you’ll have during your gaming.

Of course, lower DPI levels don’t necessary mean lower quality since many games require slower, more precise movements that a DPI level can make more challenging.

  1. Grip.

Gaming mice are available in a variety of style, and each will feel different under your hand. Depending on your preferred grip style, one mouse may not work well but another will.

If you prefer a palm grip, a larger, wider mouse is best. If you’re a gamer who uses a tip grip, a shorter mouse without a large palm area and a lighter weight is ideal. For claw grippers, a narrow mouse with elongated primary buttons is your best option.
