This makes for a much more comfortable experience and a more effective epilation session. You will pay extra for this feature, but it really is worth it. Epilators that cannot contour as well will feel awkward and may miss hairs if the angle is not perfectly maintained.
- Wet or Dry Operation.
Since many people like to use their epilator in the shower to make cleanup easier and make the process less painful, it is important to look for an epilator that can be used on wet and dry skin equally as effectively. Usually, most battery-powered models will be able to accommodate your wet skin. It is more common for corded models to only be usable on dry skin, but there are some exceptions to that as well. Having the choice means you can always epilate where and when it is convenient for you.
- Size/Portability.
Although most epilators will be staying in your bathroom because you won’t need to use them all that often, their size and portability are still considerations you should think about. Smaller epilators will be easier to pack when you are going away, and they’ll also take up less space in your drawer. They will require you to spend more time epilating, however. Larger models will be more efficient but will also require more storage space, so you’ll have to compromise on the ideal balance for you.
- Power Source.
There are two options for a power source, battery power and a cord. Corded options are great because you don’t need to worry about battery life, but they may also be less convenient since you always need to place yourself near an outlet and find a comfortable way to reach every area of your body. Battery powered models are usually a bit more expensive, but they also offer much better maneuverability. As long as you are good at managing the battery life, you shouldn’t have any problems.
- Number of Tweezers.
The number of tweezers on an epilator head will determine how efficient the process is. More tweezers will allow a larger number of hairs to be pulled at once, and from a larger area. This means you won’t need to spend as much time epilating. However, you will experience more pain at first, until your skin gets used to the treatment. The lowest number of tweezers we encountered was 21, but other models average 40-42.
