- Room for Accessories.
Each bottle drying rack is designed differently, so they won’t all be able to accommodate the numerous accessories and pieces of equipment that need to be cleaned when dealing with bottles, sippy cups, pumping equipment, or things like pacifiers.
Some racks will have dedicated spots for thinks like lids, bottle nipples, and accessories like straws and utensils, but some racks don’t have any space for accessories, or any designated spot for any type of dish. If you go through a lot of accessories, we recommend choosing a larger rack that has ample space for laying small pieces out to dry. If you only have a handful of accessories like bottle lids, you’ll usually be able to sneak them in around the bottles without too much trouble.
- Size.
The size of the bottle drying rack you choose is pretty important. Not only does it determine how many bottles and accessories you can fit on the rack, it also decides how much counter space you’re giving up to have bottles drying throughout the day.
Bottle drying racks come in a variety of shapes, so smaller bases don’t necessarily mean less room for bottles. For example, a two-tired rack with a small circular base will store a greater number of bottles than a square or rectangular drying rack with only one level. It is certainly possible to enjoy a large capacity without taking up too much counter space, since you have the option of using a two-tired drying rack or a vertical drying rack.
- Durability.
Bottle drying racks are almost always made of plastic, so durability may be a concern compared to normal metal racks, but the actual design of the drying rack has more to say about durability than its material. Racks with super thin or flimsy pegs are much more likely to break, especially if you want to place glass bottles, mugs, or any other heavier dish on the rack.
Any rack with moving parts will also raise concerns about durability since the components are more easily damaged, such as if the rack spins or raises up and down. If you want to get the most life out of your drying rack as possible, choose a sturdy, one-level option that has thicker plastic pieces to limit the likelihood of damage.
